Young Athletes Shine at Abuja Pre-Season Challenge

The Abuja pre-season challenge recently took place at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, focusing on grassroots athletic development. The event aimed to identify and nurture emerging sports talent, featuring athletes aged 10-15 alongside elite competitors aged 17 and above.

Coaches and officials assessed the athletes' performances during pre-season training activities organized by the Star Athletes Club in collaboration with athletic stakeholders. The initiative, part of a corporate social responsibility program by Pasich Furniture for 2026, emphasizes the importance of creating opportunities for young athletes to showcase their abilities.

Sundai Stephen Ez, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Pasich Furniture, highlighted the need for platforms that encourage athletes to progress in sports. Gerald Oghnemega Odeka, a former quarter-miler and certified coach, designed the challenge to assess athletes' readiness for the season.

The event attracted support from the Abuja chapter of the Athletic Coaches Association of Nigeria (ACAN), with several coaches and sports administrators in attendance.
