Abuja Chef Arrested for Drugging Residents, Stealing N150M

John Govi, a chef in Abuja, was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force for his alleged involvement in a criminal conspiracy that included drugging residents and stealing luxury items worth approximately N150 million. The police statement, released on Monday, detailed that Govi, who reportedly trained at a catering school in Cotonou, Benin Republic, had established contact with two accomplices, identified as Peter Mose.

The operation took place on April 23, 2026, where Govi allegedly monitored the security layout of the residence to execute the theft. The plan involved incapacitating the residents with a harmful substance to gain access.

During the operation, the suspects vandalized the CCTV system, ransacked the apartment, and stole cash along with twenty luxury wristwatches. The police later intercepted Govi while he attempted to flee towards Gwagwalada, recovering stolen items including an iPhone 17 Pro Max and a chemical substance for forensic analysis.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to tackling organized crime networks.
