Abuja Court Sentences Anita Job to 27 Years for Drug Trafficking

Anita Job, a businesswoman and mother of three, was sentenced to 27 years in prison by Justice Hauwa Joseph Yilwa at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday. She was convicted on two counts of dealing in illicit drugs, specifically for trafficking 250 kilograms of a commercial quantity of illicit substances.

The charges were brought against her by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Justice Yilwa sentenced her to 12 years on one count and 15 years on the other, with the sentences to run concurrently.

The court noted Job's remorse throughout the proceedings and her admission of guilt, which was considered in the sentencing. Despite her expressions of remorse, the judge emphasized that drug crimes are taken seriously and have significant consequences in Nigeria and the international community.
