Abuja-Kaduna Train Services Fully Resumed After Incident

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) announced the full restoration of train services along the Abuja-Kaduna rail corridor following an incident on September 16, which resulted in 26 passengers being injured. The Managing Director of NRC disclosed this information on Wednesday, assuring commuters that safety and operational standards would be improved.

The incident occurred near Asham Station when a train identified as KA2, which had departed from Rigasa, made a scheduled stop at Jere. An additional rear locomotive became detached during the journey, causing the train to roll forward and collide with the rear train, striking the power car of the last passenger coach.

NRC clarified that contrary to initial reports, the incident did not involve a collision between two separate trains but was due to an internal operational issue. The corporation emphasized its commitment to ensuring reliable and secure rail services and urged passengers to resume travel confidently as operations stabilize along the route.
