Abuja-Kaduna Train Breaks Down, Passengers Stranded Hours

On Monday afternoon, the Abuja-Kaduna train experienced a breakdown near Rijana village, causing significant delays for passengers who were stranded for several hours. The train had departed from Kaduna at 2:30 PM and developed a fault shortly after, resulting in a halt in service.

Efforts were made to restore movement, and in response to inquiries, Mr. Modibbo, the Abuja station manager of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, confirmed via WhatsApp that a relief engine was dispatched to assist the stalled train. Security personnel were deployed around the train to ensure the safety of the passengers, who were advised to remain calm while awaiting the arrival of the relief engine.

The Abuja-Kaduna rail corridor serves as a major transport link connecting the Federal Capital Territory with Kaduna State, which is widely used by commuters despite security concerns along the highway.
