Abure Criticizes Obi's Supporters Amid Labour Party Tensions

Julius Abure, the chairman of the Labour Party (LP), expressed his discontent towards Peter Obi and his supporters, accusing them of attempting to weaken the party and destroy opposition efforts against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Abure's remarks came after he advised Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Seriake Dickson to be cautious about alliances with Obi.

He criticized Obi's supporters for allegedly failing to acknowledge the sacrifices made for the party, suggesting that their actions could destabilize the LP. Abure's public attack on Obi followed a recent crisis within the LP, where he described the NDC's leadership as refusing to concede electoral positions.

He also referenced the support Obi received from Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, during the 2023 elections, indicating a shift in loyalty within the party. Abure's comments reflect ongoing tensions within the LP as it navigates its political strategy ahead of future elections.
