ACF Spokesman Critiques Atiku and Obi for 2027 Elections

Mohammed Baba, the spokesman for the Arewa Consultative Forum, expressed skepticism regarding the candidacies of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi as credible alternatives for the northern region in the upcoming 2027 presidential elections. In an interview on Monday, Baba described Nigeria's political class as lacking direction and driven by personal ambitions rather than addressing pressing issues such as insecurity and economic challenges.

He noted that the average northern voter has been disillusioned for a long time, particularly due to the perceived failure of the current administration under President Bola Tinubu to deliver on promises. Baba criticized the absence of clear policy alternatives from the candidates and pointed out that the political landscape is fragmented, with rising fuel prices and insecurity influencing voter behavior.

He also warned against complacency within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and emphasized that the northern electorate is not a monolithic voting bloc.
