Lagos Gov't Clarifies Actor Baba Ijesha Completed Jail Term, Not Acquitted of Sexual Offenses

The Lagos State Attorney General, Lawal Pedro, dismissed claims that actor Baba Ijesha was acquitted, emphasizing that he completed his jail term but was not cleared of charges. Baba Ijesha was convicted in 2021 for sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child, sentenced to five years, which was later overturned on appeal.

Yomi Fabiyi alleged Baba Ijesha was exonerated, prompting the government to clarify the legal status. The Attorney General warned against spreading misinformation and emphasized that Baba Ijesha's release was due to completing his sentence, not acquittal.
