ADA Clarifies Position on Ardo's NDC Registration Remarks

The Democrat Alliance (ADA) issued a statement clarifying that comments made by Dr. Umar Ardo regarding the registration of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were made in his personal capacity and do not represent the official stance of the party.

The statement, released on May 4, 2026, in Abuja by Hon. Ley Igbabo, emphasized that while Ardo's views are strongly held, they do not reflect the party's official position.

ADA acknowledged the NDC's registration as a legitimate political party and described it as a viable opposition platform in Nigeria. The party reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening opposition politics rather than undermining it and urged political actors to exercise restraint ahead of the 2027 general elections.
