Adamawa Government Suspends Schools Board Head for Probe

The Adamawa State Government, led by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has suspended the head of the Adamawa State Schools Board. This decision was announced by Humwashi Wonosikou, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, on Sunday in Yola.

The suspension aims to allow for a thorough investigation into unspecified matters concerning the board. In the interim, the most senior director within the board has been tasked with managing its affairs to ensure that its activities continue without interruption.

Wonosikou emphasized the administration's commitment to improving the education sector, citing measures taken over the past seven years, which include the recruitment of qualified teachers, the rehabilitation and construction of classrooms, the provision of instructional materials, and the regular payment of salaries and allowances. These efforts have reportedly helped to reverse negative trends that previously affected the education sector in Adamawa State.
