UNICEF Launches Project to Boost Education in Adamawa

UNICEF, in collaboration with partners including the Norwegian Refugee Council and GLO Foundation, has initiated a project in Adamawa State aimed at boosting school enrollment and promoting girl-child education. This initiative, announced during a press conference in Yola, targets 130,000 children, particularly those affected by conflict, poverty, and displacement.

The project is designed to expand educational access over the next 36 months, focusing on internally displaced persons (IDPs) and children with disabilities among vulnerable groups. Aminu Ado Ibrahim, an education specialist from UNICEF's Bauchi field office, emphasized the project's goal of helping children grow into future leaders.

Dr. Nuzrat Rafiqu, Chief of UNICEF's Bauchi field office, reiterated the organization's commitment to championing the rights of women and children globally.

Dr. Murtala Babayi, the Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), commended UNICEF and its partners for their ongoing support and assured the state government's commitment to the project's success and sustainability.
