Edo Governor Accuses ADC of Promoting Cult Violence

Edo State Governor Mondai Okpebholo has raised concerns regarding the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alleging that the party is encouraging cult-related violence and criminal activities within the state. Speaking in Benin City, he warned that his administration would not tolerate any group that sponsors violence under political cover, describing the situation as a danger to public peace.

Okpebholo's remarks follow a recent wave of killings and unrest linked to cult activities, which he attributes to political actors. He announced a wider security campaign aimed at dismantling violent confraternities and restoring calm in troubled areas of Edo State.

The governor confirmed that demolitions of structures used by suspected cult members are part of this campaign, with several arrests made in connection to recent killings. He reiterated the government's commitment to enforcing Edo State's anti-cultism law as a deterrent to other residents affected by the violence.
