ADC Defends Democracy Against Edo Governor's Allegations

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has responded to allegations made by the Edo State governor, who accused opposition parties of promoting cultism and threatening to demolish homes belonging to opposition leaders. Mabel Oboh, the ADC South-South Zonal Public Secretary, stated that such serious accusations were made without verifiable evidence and expressed deep concern over the threats.

The ADC emphasized that the governor's statements should be based on facts rather than speculation, highlighting the importance of constitutional restraint and due process. They categorically rejected any attempts to link their party to criminal activities without credible evidence and called for independent investigations into the allegations.

The ADC affirmed their commitment to democracy, the rule of law, and the protection of citizens' rights, asserting that political opposition should not be criminalized. They urged the governor to retract his statements and focus on providing leadership based on fairness and constitutional order.
