Edo Governor Warns Obi Against Unsecured Visit Amid Violence

Governor Mundai Okpebholo of Edo State released a statement on Tuesday expressing sympathy for members of the ADC party following an attack on Peter Obi and others. He attributed the violence to internal rifts within the ADC, stating that certain individuals were allegedly exploiting the peaceful environment of Edo State to incite violence.

Okpebholo emphasized the importance of peace and condemned the actions of thugs and miscreants from outside the state. He believes the primary aim of the attack was to discredit Edo State and undermine its reputation as a peaceful region in Nigeria.

The governor also warned Obi against entering Edo State without security clearance, linking his previous visit, during which he donated N15 million to a local hospital, to a resurgence of violence. Okpebholo affirmed that the ADC party should avoid external accusations and focus on resolving internal disputes while maintaining the state's peaceful image.
