Okpebholo Denounces Attack on ADC Members as Internal Dispute

On February 24, Governor Okpebholo of Edo State addressed the recent attack on members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former presidential candidate Peter Obi, describing the incident as an internal party dispute that has spiraled out of control. The statement, issued by Okpebholo's Chief Press Secretary Patrick Akher Ebojel, expressed sympathy for those affected and condemned individuals who allegedly exploited Edo's calm environment to unleash violence.

Okpebholo emphasized that the state’s Chief Security Officer would not allow Edo to descend into chaos due to political rivalry. He asserted that no political pressure or blackmail would undermine the support of the Edo people for his government.

The governor advised the ADC to look inward for solutions rather than directing accusations elsewhere, suggesting that the violence appeared to stem from internal disagreements. He urged security agencies to monitor political gatherings closely to prevent unrest.
