ADC Criticizes APC for Ignoring Rising Poverty in Nigeria

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of ignoring the worsening hardship and poverty faced by Nigerians under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a statement issued on Sunday by ADC's national public secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party highlighted that poverty levels have risen significantly, with independent reports indicating that Nigeria's poverty rate has increased to 63 percent following the removal of petrol subsidies.

The ADC noted that this policy has pushed an additional ten million Nigerians into poverty. They referenced survey data showing that 93 percent of Nigerians believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, with 82 percent reporting they have gone without enough food at least once in the past year.

The ADC criticized the APC for focusing on attacking opposition parties rather than addressing the pressing issues of poverty and hardship. They emphasized the need for the government to prioritize policies that improve the welfare of citizens rather than engaging in political rhetoric.
