ADC Accuses National Assembly of Delaying 2025 Electoral Bill Passage

The African Democrat Congress (ADC) has accused the National Assembly in Nigeria of deliberately delaying the passage of the 2025 Electoral Bill, raising concerns about the potential impact on the 2027 general elections. In a statement released by the ADC's National Public Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the opposition party expressed suspicions that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was hindering electoral reforms to prevent rigging.

The ADC highlighted issues with proposed amendments to the Electoral Act of 2022, citing insufficient time for compliance and implementation, which could have serious consequences for political parties and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The ADC emphasized the importance of timely electoral preparations, including electronic voter accreditation and result transmission.

The party urged the Senate and House of Representatives to pass the bill promptly to avoid eroding public confidence in the electoral process and risking the integrity of the 2027 general elections.
