ADC Accuses Tinubu of Blocking National Convention Plans

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has publicly accused President Bola Tinubu's administration of frustrating its plans for a national convention by denying the party access to major public venues in Abuja. The ADC's request to use Eagle Square has reportedly gone unanswered, while an application for the Velodrome was rejected.

This situation arises amid a leadership crisis within the ADC, with a scheduled convention set for the 14th. The party's leadership, including Abdullahi, has declined to provide further details on the developments.

Despite the internal turmoil, ADC leaders assert that the convention will proceed as planned, complying with legal requirements, including notifying the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The party is currently facing a standoff, as INEC has not recognized either faction following a court decision.

Tensions escalated when prominent opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and others, protested at INEC headquarters, accusing the Tinubu administration of attempting to weaken opposition parties, particularly the ADC.
