ADC Accuses Tinubu of Diplomatic Protocol Breach

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration for breaching diplomatic protocols regarding ambassadorial postings. In a statement issued on Friday, ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi highlighted that the government announced new ambassadorial appointments without securing the required agreements from the host countries, which contravenes established diplomatic procedures as outlined in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, particularly Article 4.

Abdullahi noted that the administration's actions could lead to diplomatic embarrassment for Nigeria, as host countries have the right to accept or reject nominees. He also questioned why it took the government three months to confirm ambassadorial nominations and expressed concern over the incomplete list of ambassadors, with 44 out of 109 diplomatic missions remaining vacant.

The ADC warned that this situation could weaken Nigeria's diplomatic presence amid global challenges and described the Tinubu administration as incompetent for failing to appoint ambassadors in a timely manner.
