Okonkwo Critiques INEC Leadership Amid ADC Crisis

In a statement made via social media on Wednesday, Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed significant dissatisfaction with the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under Amupitan, asserting that it is worse than that of the previous chairman, Yakubu Mahmood. This criticism comes against the backdrop of INEC's recent decision to suspend recognition of a faction within the ADC, which is currently embroiled in ongoing court proceedings regarding its national chairman. The ADC's leadership crisis has been exacerbated by a recent judgment from the Court of Appeal, which has left the situation unresolved pending a final determination by the Federal High Court. Okonkwo's remarks also included a warning to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that failure to address the electoral situation could jeopardize democracy in Nigeria.
