ADC Blames Tinubu's Policies for Rising Poverty in Nigeria

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic policies, attributing the worsening poverty and hunger in Nigeria to his administration's approach. In a statement by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC referenced a recent World Bank report indicating that 139 million Nigerians, or 60% of the population, live below the national poverty line, while the World Food Programme estimates that 17 million Nigerians face acute hunger.

The ADC argues that despite claims of economic recovery, the government's reforms have failed to improve the welfare of ordinary Nigerians. They contend that the administration's focus on economic growth and revenue increases has not translated into better living conditions.

The ADC has called for a reversal of current policies and suggested that Tinubu should consider resigning rather than seeking re-election. They emphasize the need for structural reforms to address the root causes of poverty and hunger, advocating for investments in agriculture, healthcare, and education to improve the quality of life for Nigerians.
