ADC Critiques Tinubu Over Rising Terrorism in Nigeria

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) issued a statement criticizing President Bola Tinubu's administration in light of the 2026 global terrorism index, which indicated that Nigeria had risen to fourth place with 750 deaths in 2025, marking a 46% increase from the previous year. ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi highlighted the report's findings, noting that the Sahel region has become a global epicenter for terrorism, with Nigeria experiencing a 43% rise in attacks.

The ADC described the index as a clear indication of the shortcomings of Tinubu's government, emphasizing the need for a more effective security strategy. They proposed a three-pronged approach to enhance intelligence coordination, decentralize police efforts, and implement proactive measures to address security challenges.

The ADC stressed that Nigeria lacks coordination among intelligence agencies and called for a unified national intelligence coordination system to ensure timely responses to threats.
