Austine Ibok Leaves ADC to Join APC in Cross River

Austine Ibok, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the former chairman of the Labour Party in Cross River State, announced his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday. He directed his supporters across the 196 wards in the state's 18 local government areas to merge their political structures into the APC.

Ibok's decision was influenced by consultations with his family, political associates, and supporters, as well as what he termed prevailing political realities and the interests of Cross River State. He criticized the ADC for its lack of cohesion, equity, justice, fairness, and sincerity, particularly regarding zoning and leadership decisions.

Ibok expressed his support for the Otu administration, citing its achievements in security, infrastructure, efforts to recover Cross River's oil wells, and the development of the Bakassi Deep Seaport Project. He emphasized that his support is motivated by performance and the collective desire for effective governance in Cross River State.
