ADC Condemns Attack on Members During Kaduna Campaign Activity

The African Democratic Congress has denounced violence targeting its supporters in Kaduna State, calling for prosecution of those responsible.
The African Democratic Congress has issued a formal rebuke following an assault on its members in Kaduna State. The incident occurred during a solidarity march organized to support the party's gubernatorial hopeful, Hon. Isa Ashiru, according to reports from Wednesday.
Unidentified assailants are said to have targeted the gathering, prompting the party to demand swift action from law enforcement. In a statement released through its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC characterized the violence as an unwelcome escalation at an early stage of campaign preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The party stressed that no political faction or individual holds exclusive rights to deploy extrajudicial force, and signaled that introducing organized thuggery into the electoral cycle represented reckless and dangerous conduct. The ADC has appealed to security authorities to locate, apprehend, and bring criminal charges against those responsible for the assault.
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding its membership and expressed solidarity with Ashiru and affected supporters. The statement underscored the necessity of shielding opposition political organizations during the run-up to elections.
The incident marks an early flashpoint in Kaduna's political landscape as multiple parties mobilize their bases ahead of the 2027 vote. Security agencies have not yet issued public statements regarding the attack or any ongoing investigations.
The ADC's response signals heightened anxiety within opposition circles about the safety of campaign activities in the state.
