ADC Submits Constitution Review Report for Internal Democracy

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) submitted reports from its Constitution Review Committee in Abuja on Tuesday, highlighting the urgent need to strengthen internal democracy and transparency within the party. The party's national chairman, Senator David Mark, emphasized that the review should reflect current realities and represent the events within the party.

Legal adviser Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor reminded members that the constitution is not merely a document but the soul of the party.

The committee's report included innovative proposals such as affirmative action provisions for 30% representation of women and 20% for youth, alongside measures to ensure inclusivity for persons with disabilities. The review aims to address the realities of the party's current stage and to streamline the transition of party office positions.

The committee also proposed a robust framework to resolve grievances and reduce disputes, adapting to the evolving legal constraints of internal party litigation. The process, while not perfect, is seen as a significant step towards strengthening the party.
