Court Affirms David Mark's Leadership in ADC

On Thursday, the Federal High Court in Abuja upheld the leadership of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissing a suit filed by Leke Abejide. Justice Musa Liman ruled that the court lacked jurisdiction over the internal affairs of the ADC and that Abejide failed to demonstrate any legal right to challenge the leadership.

The judgment stated that Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives, did not explore the party's internal mechanisms for dispute resolution. The court confirmed that Mark, a former Senate President, and Aregbesola, a former Governor of Osun State, were validly elected leaders of the party according to the Electoral Act 2026.

The court awarded a fine of N2 million in favor of the defendants and imposed a N10 million fine against Abejide's lawyer for non-compliance with the Electoral Act. The suit, which sought to nullify the leadership transfer to Mark and Aregbesola, was deemed without merit.
