ADC Crisis: David Mark Faction Expels Nafiu Bala

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is experiencing intensified internal conflict as the faction led by David Mark announced the expulsion of Nafiu Bala, the faction chairman, due to alleged anti-party activities. This decision was made during the party's national convention held in Abuja.

The expulsion also affected several prominent members, including Leke Abejide, Temitop Obinna, Norman Kennedi Odiong, and Stella Chukwuma. Chinedu Idigo, the party's organizational secretary, accused Bala and others of undermining party unity and creating discord.

The leadership struggle within the ADC has escalated since July 2025, when a coalition of opposition figures took control of the party's leadership, leading to resistance from Bala's faction, which disputes the legitimacy of Mark's leadership. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) withdrew recognition of Mark's faction on April 1, following a court ruling.

Despite this setback, Mark plans to challenge the ruling in the Supreme Court, with a hearing scheduled for April 22, which will be crucial for the party's future leadership.
