ADC Expels Nafiu Bala and Others Over Anti-Party Activities

On Tuesday, the faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by former Senate President David Mark expelled several prominent members, including the faction's national chairman Nafiu Bala and House of Representatives member Leke Abejide, due to alleged anti-party activities. The decision was made during a convention held in Abuja, where a motion for the immediate expulsion of these members was approved by the delegates.

Other expelled members included former deputy national chairman Kenneth Ehiat, Stella Chukwu, and Elia Adiukwu. The motion was moved by Senator Bino Yaro representing Adamawa South and was promptly seconded and adopted.

The expelled members were accused of engaging in activities detrimental to the unity and progress of the ADC, which is currently facing a leadership crisis and internal disputes over control of its national structure. This expulsion occurs against the backdrop of ongoing legal battles regarding the party's leadership, with the Supreme Court set to hear an appeal related to the dispute.
