Senator Marafa Critiques INEC's Alleged APC Bias

Senator Marafa, a former senator representing Zamfara Central, raised concerns regarding the neutrality of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), claiming it is filled with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In an interview with Vanguard, he highlighted the importance of the electoral body remaining independent and not affiliated with any political party, especially in light of ongoing leadership disputes within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Marafa emphasized that the current political atmosphere in Nigeria is troubling as the country approaches the 2027 elections. He warned that attempts to control the political space by power figures have historically failed and that Nigeria cannot function effectively under a party-state system.
