ADC Backs Court Ruling Against Factional Congress

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed support for a recent judgment from the Federal High Court in Abuja, which nullified the conduct of a congress organized by a faction led by former Senate President David Mark. The ruling, delivered by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, restrains the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing the faction's congress and its caretaker leadership.

Dumebi Kachikwu, the party's former presidential candidate, alongside state chairmen, held a press conference in Abuja to commend the court's decision, labeling it a long-overdue validation of their fight against attempts to hijack the party. Kachikwu warned that the ADC must not be sold to political buccaneers and urged vigilance to ensure the party's survival.

Kingsley Oggah, chairman of the ADC state chairmen, described the judgment as a relief and emphasized the importance of unity to avoid deregistration by INEC, which could jeopardize their participation in the next elections.
