Court Orders ADC to Halt National Convention Amid Crisis

On Tuesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja issued an order for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to suspend its plans for a national convention and maintain the status quo. This ruling comes amid an escalating leadership crisis within the party.

The court directed the ADC to refrain from taking any actions that could undermine the proceedings while the case is pending. The suit was filed by seven aggrieved members, including Don Norman, Obinna Johnni, Tovi Derek, Obah Ehigi, Hon Olona Yinka, Dr.

Charl Idowu Omideji, Samuel Pan Gyang, and Obianyo Patrick, with the suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/581/2026. The ADC is listed as the first defendant alongside key party figures and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Justice Abdulmalik adjourned the case to April 23 for a definitive hearing and instructed the parties involved to file necessary processes for a swift resolution. Additionally, an appeal related to the ADC leadership crisis is set for April 22, with a five-member panel led by Justice Mark.
