Nafiu Bala Confirms Attendance at ADC Leadership Event

Nafiu Bala, the faction chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), admitted to attending an event on July 2, 2025, that produced David Mark as the interim leader of the party. This admission followed the circulation of a viral video showing Bala at the ceremony held at the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Centre in Abuja.

The ADC is currently embroiled in an internal crisis with two factions claiming leadership, leading to a prolonged legal battle. Bala clarified that his attendance should not be interpreted as an endorsement of Mark's leadership.

The event was attended by various stakeholders, including Kenneth Okonkwo, a former chieftain of the Labour Party. The ADC's national chairman, Ralph Nwosu, announced his resignation during the meeting, which Bala argued was unconstitutional, citing violations of the ADC constitution.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to announce a judgment on March 12 regarding the ongoing disputes within the party.
