ADC Faction Convention Fails, Venue Left Empty in Abuja

On Tuesday, the faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Nafiu Bala attempted to hold a convention at the National Stadium in Abuja, but the event failed to materialize, resulting in an empty venue. Reports indicated that there were no delegates or party members present, and the situation was described as a complete desert.

This failure to convene underscores the deepening crisis within the ADC, which is currently embroiled in a leadership battle. Bala's faction claims leadership of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, while they have rejected the legitimacy of a parallel convention organized by David Mark's faction.

Bala's camp has accused the rival faction of breaching party constitution and attempting an illegal restructuring. They also contend that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) does not recognize their faction's actions.

The absence of delegates and the lack of official recognition raise concerns about the future strength and plans of Bala's faction.
