ADC Petitions U.S. Over Alleged Leadership Hijack

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is currently facing a leadership crisis, prompting the party to formally petition the U.S. Embassy in Abuja.

The party's authentic national chairman, Hon. Nafiu Bala Gomb, has accused unnamed political actors of undermining the party's constitution and due process.

This crisis follows the resignation of the former national chairman, Ralph Okei Nwosu, who was a member of the National Working Committee (NWC). Gomb asserts that the ADC's constitution mandates that the deputy national chairman assumes leadership when the national chairman's position becomes vacant.

He remains the sole deputy chairman and claims that external political actors are attempting to hijack the party's leadership without adhering to established constitutional processes. The ADC's complaint emphasizes the need for the U.S. to consider sanctions against individuals involved in this alleged unconstitutional takeover, including visa restrictions.

Gomb's appeal highlights the importance of safeguarding internal party democracy and upholding the rule of law in Nigeria.
