ADC Faction Protests for Leadership Recognition at INEC

On Thursday, a faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Nafiu Bala staged a protest at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja. The protest aimed to demand formal recognition of Bala's leadership.

The group, which included Leke Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives from Kogi State, accused a rival faction aligned with former Senate President David Mark of attempting to unlawfully control the party's leadership, violating the ADC constitution. During the protest, Bala urged INEC to follow due process in resolving the leadership dispute and warned against any attempts by individuals to hijack the party.

He emphasized that the ADC belongs to its members at all levels. Abejide called on INEC to resist any alleged efforts to hijack the party, noting that the ADC constitution requires members to spend at least two years in the party before contesting leadership positions.

INEC's National Commissioner, Abdullahi Abdu Zuru, assured that the commission would review the complaints and provide feedback.
