ADC Faces Crisis as Nationwide Congresses Collapse

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is experiencing a significant crisis as state congresses across Nigeria collapse. A ruling by Justice Ahm Isa of a Yola high court has ordered the suspension of the party's congress slate until the case is determined, with a subsequent adjournment set for April 15, 2026.

In response, ADC leaders, including Anambra State Chairman Patrick Obianyo, announced the suspension of proposed congresses until further notice, emphasizing their commitment to the rule of law and due process. Similar announcements have been made by the Ondo ADC, which also suspended its congress plans, and the Zamfara ADC, led by Chairman Kabiru Garba, who stated that the party was not prepared for congress.

Additionally, the Niger State ADC, under Chairman Musa Hassan, has suspended its congress across 25 local government areas. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been informed of these actions, and party leaders urge members to remain calm and law-abiding during this period.
