ADC Niger State Suspends Congresses Indefinitely

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Niger State has announced the immediate suspension of its planned congresses across the state's 25 local government areas until further notice. This decision was communicated by the party's chairman, Musa Hassan, in a statement sent to Punch Online on Wednesday.

The suspension is attributed to the need to adhere to the rule of law and due process, as well as respect for judicial authority. Hassan cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state not to recognize any congress organized by unauthorized committees and urged the public to disregard any announcements made by individuals claiming to act on behalf of the party without proper authorization.

He reaffirmed that the current ADC executive committee in Niger State remains constitutionally valid and duly recognized by INEC. The party leadership will communicate a new date for the congress following the conclusion of ongoing national consultations and has called on members to support the ADC in maintaining peace, unity, and discipline during this period.
