ADC Demands INEC Chairman Amupitan's Immediate Resignation

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by its National Chairman David Mark, has demanded the immediate resignation of Prof. Joash Amupitan, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This call was made during a world press conference held in Abuja on Thursday. Mark expressed that the ADC has lost confidence in Amupitan's leadership, stating that the current electoral body has demonstrated an inability to conduct credible elections.

He urged President Bola Tinubu to remove Amupitan from office if he does not step down voluntarily. The ADC's statement follows the delisting of the party from the commission amid preparations for the upcoming 2027 general elections, where credible elections are expected to be a major issue among stakeholders.

Mark's insistence on Amupitan's resignation reflects the party's concerns regarding the integrity of the electoral process in Nigeria.
