ADC Demands INEC Chairman Resignation Over Pro-Tinubu Tweet

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded the immediate resignation of Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), due to allegations of a pro-Bola Tinubu tweet linked to his former Twitter account. The ADC, represented by its spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi, accused Yakubu of actions that could undermine the credibility and neutrality of INEC, particularly in light of the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The party expressed serious concerns regarding the transparency of the electoral system and described the situation as a plot to impose control over opposition parties. The ADC's statement followed intensified criticism of Yakubu's social media activity, which they argue raises significant questions about the impartiality expected from an electoral umpire.

Abdullahi emphasized that any actions that tamper with digital records could severely compromise the integrity of the electoral process, calling for Yakubu's immediate resignation to restore public confidence in INEC.
