ADC Sues INEC Over Removal of Party Leaders' Names

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the leadership of Senator David Mark, has initiated legal proceedings against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the Federal High Court in Abuja. The lawsuit, filed on April 7, 2023, challenges INEC's decision to remove the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from the party's official records.

Mark's attorney, Sulaiman Usman, is requesting a court order to compel INEC to restore these names and to prevent the commission from interfering in the party's leadership records. This legal action follows a court appeal judgment from March 12, 2023, regarding a dispute involving former Deputy National Chairman Nafiu Gomb.

The ADC argues that INEC misinterpreted court rulings, which has led to confusion within the party. The court is also being asked to maintain the status quo until the case is resolved, with a potential resolution date set for September 2, 2025.
