INEC Restores ADC Leadership Following Supreme Court Ruling

Jibrin Okutepa, the lead counsel for Senator David Mark, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its swift action in restoring the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after a Supreme Court ruling. The Supreme Court, on Thursday, directed that Mark return to the Federal High Court to resolve ongoing leadership disputes within the ADC, which arose from a previous ruling by the Court of Appeal that dismissed Mark's appeal against a September 4 ruling by the Federal High Court.

The case was initiated by former ADC Vice Chairman Nafiu Bala, who sought to halt Mark's leadership. The Supreme Court's unanimous judgment, delivered by a five-member panel led by Moham Garba, found that the Court of Appeal had acted beyond its jurisdiction.

Okutepa highlighted INEC's respect for the rule of law by restoring ADC leadership on its portal without delay, emphasizing the importance of adhering to court judgments in Nigeria.
