ADC Faction Led by David Mark Sues INEC Over Leadership

The faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark has initiated legal action against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the Federal High Court, Abuja, following INEC's removal of key party leaders from its official records on April 1, 2025. The lawsuit, filed under case number FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025, seeks to compel INEC to reverse its decision and restore the names of David Mark as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary.

The faction's lawyer, Sulaiman Usman, SAN, argues that INEC's actions have deepened existing leadership disputes within the party and created confusion regarding its leadership structure. The court is requested to issue a mandatory injunction to prevent INEC from further tampering with the party's leadership records.

The case's urgency stems from its implications for the ADC's internal operations and the broader Nigerian democratic process, as unresolved disputes could lead to parallel leadership structures within the party.
