ADC Critiques Tinubu's Ambassadorial Postings Announcement

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration over its recent announcement regarding ambassadorial postings, labeling it a diplomatic blunder that could expose Nigeria to international embarrassment. Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC's spokesperson, stated that the announcement violated established diplomatic protocols, which require the consent of host countries before such appointments are made public, as stipulated by the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Abdullahi emphasized that the proper procedure involves receiving approval from the host country before announcing appointments, warning that failing to do so could lead to nominees being rejected. The ADC also questioned why the government announced 65 ambassadorial appointments while leaving 44 diplomatic missions without designated ambassadors.

This situation raises concerns about Nigeria's diplomatic presence amid global uncertainties. Abdullahi noted that the government has not effectively managed these appointments, which could weaken Nigeria's international representation.
