This remark elicited laughter from other members present. The incident occurred during a plenary session on Tuesday when Speaker Tajudeen Abass announced several defections affecting lawmakers, including Abaribe's shift to the Labour Party.

Other notable defections included Leke Abejide from ADC to APC and several members moving to NDC, highlighting a significant political reshuffle within the Nigerian legislative body.
