ADC Faces Challenges if Supreme Court Delays Judgment

Magaji Mato, a senior lawyer, has issued a warning regarding the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that the party could encounter significant challenges if the Supreme Court fails to deliver a judgment on their pending appeal within 48 hours. Mato called for an expedited ruling, citing the critical political timeline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He acknowledged that while the constitution allows the court up to three months to deliver judgments, the urgency of the case necessitates a faster decision to avoid potential political tension and disruption of the electoral process. Mato emphasized that a delay in the ruling could render the judgment ineffective and create a crisis situation in the country.

He expressed confidence that the Supreme Court is aware of the fundamental implications of the case for Nigeria's democracy and the rights of political parties and individuals to contest elections fairly.
