ADC Accuses INEC of Blocking Participation in 2027 Elections
• This Day • Politics
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), represented by its National Public Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of plotting to prevent the party from participating in the upcoming 2027 elections. Abdullahi stated that INEC is deliberately not receiving correspondence from the ADC, which is critical for the party to comply with the electoral process mandated by the Electoral Act of 2026. The ADC claims that INEC's refusal to accept documents within the specified timelines poses a significant risk to the party's ability to field candidates. The party has highlighted that INEC's own records and sworn affidavits confirm the legitimacy of its leadership under David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola. The ADC is calling for INEC to reverse its position and resume accepting communications to uphold democratic processes in Nigeria. Additionally, Peter Obi's media office has warned against any clandestine schemes to block the ADC's candidacy.
