ADC Accuses INEC of Blocking 2027 Election Participation

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of attempting to obstruct the party's participation in the 2027 elections. Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's national publicity secretary, stated that this situation raises serious concerns, as it appears designed to prevent the ADC from fielding candidates.

The ADC claims to have documentary evidence, including certified INEC records and monitoring reports, to support their allegations. According to an affidavit filed, INEC has reportedly informed the ADC that it will no longer accept correspondence from the party until a pending case regarding its leadership is resolved in the Federal High Court.

This decision complicates the ADC's ability to meet electoral requirements, as they must provide a 21-day notice for meetings and submit relevant documents by a fixed deadline of May 10. Abdullahi emphasized that unless the court delivers a judgment on the leadership issue by this date, the ADC will be unable to produce candidates for the elections.
