ADC Defends Malami and El-Rufai Amid Legal Proceedings

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) released a statement on Tuesday, defending former Attorney General Abubakar Malami and former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who are currently facing legal proceedings. The ADC, represented by its National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, insisted that justice must be fair and not selective.

The party noted that Malami is under prosecution following a Federal High Court order, while El-Rufai is in custody after being invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The ADC emphasized that no Nigerian is above the law and that all citizens should be treated equally under the law, regardless of their position.

The party warned against describing the justice process as selective and urged Nigerians to compare the handling of high-profile cases, highlighting the swift progress in other cases versus the prolonged detention of Malami and El-Rufai. The ADC reiterated its commitment to ensuring that its members are presumed innocent until proven guilty and that they should not be intimidated or denied their rights.
