ADC Criticizes INEC Over Wike's Alleged Election Threat

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its silence regarding remarks made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Wike allegedly stated that candidates who do not support Bola Tinubu should not win the upcoming FCT council elections.

This comment was made during Senator Sandy Onor's 60th birthday celebration in Abuja. The ADC expressed concern that INEC has not distanced itself from Wike's comments within 48 hours of the statement, suggesting complicity.

Nwigbo Chukwudi Samuel, the ADC's public secretary, warned against any attempts to influence the election outcome and emphasized the importance of voter participation on February 21. The ADC called on INEC to ensure a transparent electoral process, adhere to due process, and conduct free, fair, and credible elections, urging voters to protect their votes until the rightful winner is declared.
