ADC Criticizes Wike's 'War' Comments Ahead of Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for his recent statement declaring a "war" against candidates opposing Bola Tinubu ahead of the February 21, 2026 elections. Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC's National Publicity Secretary, characterized Wike's comments as irresponsible and dangerous, particularly during a period when Nigeria is facing significant economic hardship and political tension.

The ADC warned that such inflammatory rhetoric is detrimental to the fragile atmosphere in the country and undermines the democratic process. They emphasized that the ultimate power belongs to the people, not to any individual in public office.

The ADC also expressed concerns about the growing disconnect between the government and citizens, asserting that attempts to intimidate voters reflect anxiety within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The party vowed to resist any interference in the electoral process, asserting that Nigerians should freely choose their leaders.
